THUNDERBOLT 450 & Turbo 500 Intensifier
RME’s THUNDERBOLT 450 Recoilless Hydraulic Hammer replaces sledge hammers, pneumatic jack hammers and heavy battering rams by delivering a high momentum 450 Joule blow once every second.
This hammer is suitable for all size mills and liners where sledge hammers are of limited use and battering rams a very unsafe alternative.
The THUNDERBOLT 450 provides individual blow energies equivalent to a strong man striking vertically down with a 6kg (14lb) sledge hammer. The great advantage of the THUNDERBOLT 450 Hammer, over any man or team of men, is its ability to deliver this blow horizontally (a man achieves only 150 Joules without the aid of gravity) and continuously at a rate of 1 blow per second. The THUNDERBOLT 450 delivers three (3) times the hitting power of a typical man, and will strike sixty (60) times a minute continuously.
Designed to operate from 690kPa (100psi) plant air, the Thunderbolt 450 can be supplied with an optional Thunderbolt Turbo supply air booster for those plants with low pressure supply.
Each Thunderbolt 450 Recoilless Hammer weighs 257kg (565lbs) and is supplied with the requisite hose reel.
Suspension
THUNDERBOLT 450 Hammers can be supported by overhead crane (only recommended for initial trial, since the crane is a scarce resource in a shut down situation), or the THUNDERBOLT 450 Swing Arm Jib. For information regarding hammer suspension options, please see Suspension Options.
Hammer Application
The THUNDERBOLT 450 Pneumatic Recoilless Hammer will find immediate application on any mill currently serviced by manual sledge hammering. Designed originally for use on smaller mills, the THUNDERBOLT 450 has proved an effective companion to the THUNDERBOLT 1500 and 750 on the largest mills in the world. The THUNDERBOLT 450 recoilless hydraulic hammer has also found application in many tasks where an easily controlled, sustained high energy impact is required.
